Angekommen in Island Arrived in Iceland

Anflug Island Mietwagen in Island Ölverk Bier

Erster Stopp: Island.

First stop: Iceland. First beer poured – and immediately the most expensive of the trip. But the view on approach and the Icelandic license plate on the rental car make up for it.

Unser erstes Hotel Our first hotel

Hotel in Island Ausblick vom Hotel in Island Hótel Kvika Schild

Our first hotel in Iceland – in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by barren lava landscape. The mood is so beautifully gloomy that the building could easily appear in an episode of Fargo. Only the parking lot full of rental cars reveals that tourists stay here. In the evening, the blue-yellow Hótel Kvika sign glows in the darkness.

Geysir Geysir

First big excursion in Iceland: the Geysir area in Haukadalur. Strokkur spouts steam into the cool air, water boils and hisses in the pools, and everywhere smells of sulfur. In between: Icelandic flag in the wind and the bright red Pósturinn mailbox.

Schwarzer Sand, Skyr und Schluchten Black sand, skyr and canyons

Onward through Iceland: black sand beach by the sea, the domain name written in the sand, a giant lobster by the fjord, Icelandic skyr as provisions, and then a wild canyon with moss-covered rocks and glacial river.

Angekommen in NYC Arrived in NYC

Angekommen.

NYC by Night NYC by Night

New York City bei Nacht McDonald's aus dem Auto NYPD Polizeiauto Chinatown New York New York Kennzeichen Tesla Fahrt durch Tunnel Flugzeugtriebwerk über NYC Flugzeugtriebwerk in den Wolken

New York bei Nacht: Lichter, Sirenen, Tunnel, Chinatown.

New York at night: lights, sirens, tunnels, Chinatown. The NYPD car parked outside the hotel, the yellow McDonald's sign glowing through the Uber window, and the New York license plate on the driver's Tesla already feels like a small souvenir. The last view from the plane shows the city lights, then up into the clouds.

Gelandet in Miami Landed in Miami

Yoga Room Miami Airport Sheriff Auto Miami Airport

Vorerst letzter Flug, letzte Etappe: Miami. Rückflug erst in 18 Tagen.

Last flight for now, final leg: Miami. After Iceland and New York, we've now arrived in Florida. At the airport we immediately spotted two typically American things: a Yoga Room for stressed travelers and a sheriff's car outside the parking garage. The road trip begins here – pick up the rental car and go. Return flight not for another 18 days.

Fahrerloses Taxi

Zukunft? Normalität? Beides.
